I Can Read: The February Carnival Celebrating Books for New Readers
Neither rain nor snow nor lack of electricity can slow the power of sharing a great book … Anastasia has opened the February Carnival at 5 Great Books. She’s got the Cybils winners and more, so stop by. The I Can Read! Carnival is a chance not only to talk about easy readers and short chapter books, but also to share your ideas (posts) about ways to promote reading and working with children learning to read.
On a related note, have you seen all of the great activity ideas inspired by My Heart is Like a Zoo?
Check out Vanessa’s easy fish valentines at Silly Eagle Books and Christianne’s adorable cards at Little Page Turners. Thanks to Vanessa for introducing me to the Story + Art meme at A Mommy’s Adventures, too. If you haven’t seen this book, then head over to KidLit. Tasha Saecker has a book trailer for it. Can you tell I adore this book? The use of shapes make it fun (and educational) for pre-literacy activities; the rhyme and repetition of sight words make it great as an easy reader; and with 300 hearts to find, you can practice counting, too!
